Liposuction (also known as Lipoplasty) is something that many people need to do some research on in order to make the right decision on the kind of liposuction that they are interested in. I have talked to some doctors that are in my family and they all have said that they wished that people came into their offices more informed than they do. If patients would come in with some well known knowledge about what the procedure they are thinking about getting than they will already have educated questions that the doctors can answer for them. By educating yourself you will not waste the doctor's time and your time with a consultation that just covers basic questions and some more important questions can get addressed. One of the first things that doctors say is that people are concerned with money and liposuction pricing. This is always the first question that people worry about and they can get this basic information on their own. Hopefully this article will give you the starting tools you need to go into the doctor's office with the price ranges already in mind so that base is covered and you know what to expect and get down to details

Costs

One thing to note is the price of liposuction is dependent on location and the doctor. Many doctors that are in a high demand area or in high demand themselves have higher surgery costs. Many other factors contribute to the costs of a surgery and those specifics need to be addressed during your consultation. They can be the kind of medication used during and after, anesthesiologist fees, room fees, recovery fees and any additional procedure that you might want to get done at the same time. One of the things that you should make sure of is any estimate you get from a plastic surgeon needs to be in writing. They can give you a quote over the phone or off hand but until a full examination is done they will not know all of the specifics for your personal procedure.

Another thing that throws a wrench into the equation when it comes to liposuction prices is the patient's size and the complexity of the operation. Not many people take this into consideration when they think about liposuction price but these things have huge influence on what the price will be. It is very important to have a consultation and examination to make sure that your plastic surgeon knows your case and then he can also give you a written estimate of how much your operation will be.

Procedures

Let's get down to the most popular liposuction procedures done and what the national averages are. These are just ranges but again they are averages based on different cases performed.

Shoulders: $2,200 - $4,300

Today with woman showing more skin than ever in history it has been very important to have slim flowing shoulders. Movie stars have done this procedure to be able to show off the strapless designer dresses on the red carpet. Slim shoulders are seen as today's most attractive sex appeal. There are different body variations that need to be taken into consideration when looking into slimming down your shoulders. The one thing that all good doctors agree on is that because of the shape variations with women a proportional body is a must. This means that if your body will be out of proportional and that the natural flow to your shape is disrupted with having slim shoulders they will not perform the procedure. This is just something to think about and clarify with your doctor if you are considering this procedure.

Arms: $1,750 - $6,300

Many many people want to reduce the fat that lies in their arms. Removing this fat that is under the skin and above the muscle tissue in this particular area can reduce such an eye sore and disfigurement to the arms. Not only to mention the comfortably and added motion within your arms. This is a fairly straight forward procedure and can make all the difference in shaping your figure.

Back: $1,750 - $4,500

One of the secret liposuction procedures is done on the back. Most people wonder how that sleek cut back can be achieved when you have fatty issue built up on your back. This is one way to do it. Something to consider when discussing this procedure with your doctor is where the incision points will be. That is something that is dependent on your specific procedure and how much needs to be removed. Again if you are considering this procedure you also need to consider recovery time. Due to the larger area that can be treated a longer recovery time may be needed.

Breasts: $3,000 - $7,500

Liposuction of the breasts or breast reduction surgery can be done with only a local anesthesia. The benefit of this type of liposuction is that there are no scars. The use of a small single incision point can reduce the breast size by up to 60% in some cases. The recovery time is speedy and normal work can be resumed after a normal weekends rest. The cost fluctuation is because most people do not just get the reduction done. Most get a lift at the same time which causes the price to increase.

Buttocks: $1,750 - $5,100

This procedure is mainly to shape the buttocks. Most people want to get rid of the cellulite and unsightly dimples on the buttocks and back of the legs but this procedure can also take away the fat in the areas where you don’t want it and keep it in areas that you do. It is a great choice when you have the want to shape and form your buttocks in all the right areas. Again this price range is dependent on the size and complexity of the procedure that you need to talk to your doctor about.

Face: $1,500 - $5,000

Like the breast reduction surgery the face procedures that can be done are used to remove unwanted unattractive fat cells on or around the face. It is a straight forward procedure and also has a fast recovery time and virtually no scars. This procedure can be used to target specific troubled areas without compromising the areas not needed to be disturbed. It is a quick, fast, and easy way to look and feel younger with a relatively quick recovery time.

Neck: $2,000 - $3,800

This procedure is more of a complex procedure. The prices skewed because this procedure is done with others at the same time. People tend to get lifts and facial implants when the neck procedure is chosen. This procedure needs to be discussed with your doctor and talked about on a client to client basis.

Thighs: $2,100 - $5,500

Along with the buttocks the thighs tend to follow right in line. Most thigh liposuctions that are done have some other type of liposuction paired with it. Whether it be liposuction on the legs or buttocks everything needs to be thought as a whole especially for the patient after the procedure. Recovery time is moderate and takes some home care which your doctor will go over with you. Mainly we see the want for this procedure again because of looks and comfort. Rubbing and irritation can lead to the want to decrease the size of your thighs. This is one option in achieving that. The cost runs higher due to the large area that this surgery tends to cover and that some sort of skin tuck will be necessary along with the liposuction itself.

Knees: $1,400 - $3,900

This can be a complex practice and requires some technique. Fat tends to gather for most people at the knees and too much can cause joint problems. Inflation of nerves and tendons can cause for discomfort and may even hinder walking. Due to the fact of the location this is a more expensive surgery. Recovery time varies on what is done and how much but again because of the location mobility may need to be limited for a longer amount of time.

Hips & Waist: $1,600 - $5,200

This surgery is in high demand for both men and woman. The location of this surgery can have a very quick recovery time depending on the area affected. This procedure is straight forward and almost 42% of the time has some sort of skin tuck paired with it. This is a fast and easy way to eliminate the belly bulge that seeks in, in later years of life. Cost tends to sky rocket for this surgery not only because of the demand but because of the complexity that individual cases can require. Make sure you cover all options available with your doctor.

Liposuction Rising In America

With liposuction prices more reasonable than ever, today it is seen as more of the norm to have some cosmetic surgery done.  As explained in the video below the idea of being able to change something about your body is more appealing than ever.

Your Health is something that is extremely important. When it comes to choosing the right plastic surgeon it needs to be done not just based on liposuction prices alone. As with anything try to pick a surgeon that is in the middle to upper middle of the entire spectrum of doctors that you research. Get as much information as you can from them on your own and anything that you cannot find on them ask them in person. Understand that all surgeries are different and different circumstances and complexities can cause your estimate to increase in price. Make sure you get a written quote on the surgery along with your examination. Doctors deal with all cases every day and have years of experience behind them. A good doctor will be able to answer all your questions and give his or her professional opinion on what they would recommend in achieving the results that you want. I wish I would of read this hub before I wasted $ 11,000 dollars on liposuction that was definitely not worth it. I paid more for a supposed newer and better procedure, boy was I wrong. My sister only paid $ 5,500 for essentially the same thing and older procedure and got better results. I should of just worked out a little harder at the gym, ha!!

Yeah I hear that, the doctor in my family was saying that so many people just do not know about average costs and what the cost should be around that sometimes they wished they had waited. You live and learn tho.

Yes, we live and learn. I just researched it and wanted the best doctor in the area. The procedure was called Smart Lipo, lets just say it wasn't very smart... It was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent before. Luckily though I would never do any other kind of plastic surgery. I don't judge others that do but just not for me.
